Utica, NY (11/19/2015) - Raymond Simon, long-time and much-loved Professor Emeritus of Public Relations at Utica College, will be inducted into the Genesis Group’s education Hall of Distinction at its 10th annual “Celebration of Education.”

Ever since Simon joined the Utica College faculty in 1949, he has been at the forefront of public relations education. Although he established the country’s first ever undergraduate public relations degree program and wrote seven different textbooks on the topic, nothing quite captures his legacy as well as the profound, life-long impact he made on his students.

As an accredited member of the Public Relations Society of America, Simon received national recognition as PRSSA’s Distinguished Teacher of the Year in 1975. He was also the only UC professor ever to receive Utica College’s Crisafulli Distinguished Teaching Award twice, in 1975 and 1984.

The unique, forward-thinking nature of Simon’s teaching is the heart of UC’s Raymond Simon Institute for Public Relations and Journalism (RSI), which helps further develop students through scholarships and awards.

Professor Simon, who recently celebrated his 100th birthday, will be inducted into the The Genesis Group’s education Hall of Distinction on Thursday, Nov. 19 at 5 p.m. at the Hart’s Hill Inn in Whitesboro. Tickets are $25. For more information on this event, visit www.thegenesisgroup.org/.
