Utica, NY (06/18/2015) - Suzanne Richardson, assistant professor of creative non-fiction and English at Utica College, is publishing a chapbook of poems titled “The Softest Part of a Woman is a Wound.” Her collection is being published by Finishing Line Press and will be released Sept. 18.

Already receiving rave reviews from early readers, Richardson’s poems are praised for their boldness, urgency and intimacy. Fellow author Casandra Lopez said, "Richardson's poems are bold and sensual. Their success hinges on the ways they reveal the darker and vibrant parts of ourselves like loneliness and desire.  There is an urgency that draws you in to these poems that are so intimately connected to the body and landscape."

As winner of The Journal's 2012 Creative Nonfiction contest, Richardson’s nonfiction works have appeared in New Ohio Review and New Haven Review. In addition, her poetry has been featured in PANK Magazine, The Smoking Poet and Blood Orange Review. From 2010 to 2012, Richardson served as editor-in-chief of the Blue Mesa Review, a literary magazine.

Richardson earned her bachelor’s degree in Literature and Creative Writing from Bard College and went on to earn her master’s degree and teach at the University of New Mexico. She joined the UC faculty in 2012.
