Wake of Ferguson, Talk to Explore Modern Civil Rights

Utica, NY (02/10/2015) - On Wednesday, Feb. 18, Utica College’s Center for Historical Research will host a talk in honor of Black History Month. Kathryn Silva, assistant professor of history at UC, will speak on “Interpreting the Long Civil Rights Movement in the Wake of Ferguson.”Professor Silva earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Massachusetts and went on to earn her master’s degree and Ph.D. from the University of South Carolina. Some of her academic interests include African American labor and gender history as well as 20th century United States.
The presentation will be held in Macfarlane Auditorium, DePerno Hall at 7 p.m.
