UC to Celebrate International Students Day
New Students to Present Their National Flags

Utica, NY (11/12/2014) - International students studying at Utica College will get to share a piece of their homeland, no matter how far away. On Monday, Nov. 17, UC will celebrate International Student Day with its annual flag ceremony and international fair.Starting at 12:30 p.m., 11 new students will present the college with their national flags, representing the countries in which they hold citizenship. Each student’s national anthem will play during the flag presentation.
The 11 flags will be displayed with the existing flags, which represent the current international students at UC, in the Ralph F. Strebel Student Center. The countries being recognized are Afghanistan, Antigua, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Greece, Hong Kong (flag of region), Morocco, Pakistan, United Kingdom and Venezuela.
Each international student will also have a booth at the fair, which will begin after the ceremony. Students will share their culture through various displays and representations, such as traditional dress, currency and foods.
The flag ceremony and international fair will take place in the Ellen Knower Clarke Lounge in the Strebel Student Center.
