Filmmaker Brings "Blueberry Soup" to UC

UC to Hold Exclusive Screening of Film About Iceland Constitution

Utica, NY (03/24/2014) - Utica College’s Government and Politics and Public Relations/Journalism departments have joined together to bring director Eileen Jerrett to campus. She will present her documentary “Blueberry Soup” on Wednesday, April 2 at 7 p.m.

“Blueberry Soup” is an extraordinary documentary about the constitutional change in Iceland following the financial crisis of 2008. It is a touching account of an eclectic group of individuals reinventing democracy through the rewriting of the nation's constitution, proving that Iceland is not a broken country, but instead an intricate web of concerns, ideas and creative solutions.

The screening will take place in Macfarlane Auditorium in DePerno Hall. It is free and open to the public.

Utica College’s government and politics major examines the principles, processes and structures of power in the world today. Students develop knowledge and skills that are highly valuable for the globalized world, including understanding authority, diversity, leadership, conflict resolution and collective mobilization. Classes are highly interactive and designed to enhance student abilities to comprehend, analyze and communicate.

UC is a pioneering institution in public relations education. It developed the public relations and journalism major to provide students with an extremely versatile skill set and knowledge base drawn from both disciplines. Students work closely with a faculty that includes seasoned public relations professionals, a former network television news producer and experienced multimedia journalists, then apply skills in real-world environments both on-campus and off.

UC’s public relations and journalism department boasts the state-of-the-art Simon Media Center, named after public relations pioneer and Professor Emeritus Raymond Simon. It is a high-definition broadcast facility that provides a hands-on learning environment for the next generation of media professionals.
