Utica College to Hold Undergraduate Commencement Ceremony Sunday

581 undergraduate students will participate in the Undergraduate Commencement Ceremony

Utica, NY (05/13/2013) - 581 undergraduate students will be receiving their hard-earned diploma at Utica College’s Undergraduate Commencement Ceremony. The ceremony will take place on Sunday, May 19 at 9:30 a.m. at the Utica Auditorium.The commencement speaker is Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, Eugene Robinson. He has written about high-profile stories throughout his career including the Patricia Hearst trial. Robinson was awarded the 2009 Pulitzer Prize for Commentary in recognition of his columns that focused on the first African-American U.S. presidential candidate to win votes in the Electoral College, now-president Barack Obama.
Robinson will be awarded a Doctor of Humane Letters honorary degree at the ceremony.
Dr. Nguyen Thi Quynh Lam will also be awarded with a Doctor of Humane Letters honorary degree. Lam’s efforts as an educator in Vietnam has made the education of her students in Vietnam and students that travel to study at Utica College flourish.
The class of 2013’s valedictorian is Brandy Miller from Rome, NY. Miller has earned her degree in English and Adolescence Education. The salutatorian is Yulia Vabishchevich, a biology major, from Frankfort, NY.
