Utica, NY (04/10/2012) - Utica College’s Economic Crime Institute (ECI) will host mock interview sessions for ECI, cybersecurity, and criminal justice students on Wednesday afternoon (April 11) in the Economic Crime, Justice Studies and Cybersecurity Building.

The interviews will be conducted in the afternoon by five ECI board members who are both leaders and experts in their industry. The interviewers include Tracy Gast, special agent-in-charge, United States Secret Service; Russell Koste, director identity/intelligence/network defense, Northrop Grumman; Chester Maciag, chief cyber operations branch, Air Force Research Lab; Matthew Quinn, senior vice president, Bank of America; and Gregory Campbell, deputy chief inspector, United States Postal Inspection Service.

The students participating in the mock interviews are juniors and seniors who will soon be looking to enter the job market in their respective discipline. Interviewers will be assigned based on major of study and career interest. Upon their conclusion, the interviewers will critique the students’ performance and make suggestions for the future.

Ray Philo, executive director of the ECI, believes these interviews provide tremendous real-world experience for students.

“The purpose of the mock interviews is to expose the student to a functional and realistic interview similar to what they will be exposed to in an actual job interview,” said Philo. "This will be valuable experience for the students, and better prepare them for the competitive job market.”

Along with mock interviews, there will be three informational sessions in the morning where board members will discuss career paths, resumes, qualifications, interview preparation and continuing career objectives.

Students will also have the opportunity for individual one-on-one time with board members.

Suzanne Lynch, assistant executive director of ECI and director of the economic crime management program, knows the caliber of the ECI program has led to job opportunities for many students.

“As a result of the college’s distinguished program, corporations often contact us with job opportunities,” said Lynch. “We feel the education and experience we provide our students makes them a valuable commodity for companies.”

Opening remarks and the introduction of board members will be made in the Carbone Family Auditorium.
