Utica, NY (10/11/2011) - Utica College will host its annual Major/Minor fair Wednesday, Oct. 12 from 2:30 to 4 p.m. in the Library Concourse.Representatives from all 37 majors and 27 minors at UC will be present.
A requirement for all students enrolled in the freshman seminar class, the fair gives students the opportunity to see other majors and minors that they may want to pursue.
Terri Provost, coordinator of first year seminar and associate professor of biology, said that it is a mandatory event because many first year students change their minds about their majors.
“Forty percent of students change their majors,” Provost said. “The fair shows them what else is available if they do end up deciding to change.”
Provost said that minors are available because many first year students have not given much thought to what they may want their minor to be. The fair will also showcase certificate programs available at UC.
