Utica, NY (05/03/2011) - The Utica College Concert Band will perform its final concert of the academic year Wednesday, May 4 in the Library Concourse to close the Spring 2011 Professor Harry F. and Mary Ruth Jackson Lunch Hour Series. The concert will begin at 12:30 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

Louis Angelini founded the Utica College Concert Band in 1981, and Frank Galime directed it until he retired in 1993. The current director is Michael J. DiMeo, a retired director of bands at New Hartford High School.

The band consists of 52 players ranging from students to UC staff to community members and boasts a well-balanced array of instruments. They play music from standard band literature that for them is both challenging and musically rewarding.

The UC Concert Band plays twice a year at the Jackson Lunch Hour Series, at an annual Concert for Veterans, a combined concert with the Mohawk Valley Community College Concert Band, and at other events in the Utica area.
