Senior Artists Display Works at Utica College Library

Fourth annual exhibit opens Friday

Utica, NY (04/13/2011) - The gerontology department at Utica College will host an art exhibit with the creative works of seniors -- citizens, that is.The exhibit, which will feature original works of art by members of area senior citizen centers, will open this Friday, April 15, in the Frank E. Gannett Memorial Library at Utica College.
The fourth annual event, dubbed "Creativity Continues," will run through April 25. Participating centers include Masonic Care Community, Parkway Senior Center, New Hartford Senior Center and the North Utica Senior Center.
"The artists truly love explaining their works - the effort, the details and the inspiration," said Darlene Heian, assistant professor of gerontology. "We are thrilled to provide a platform in which these artists can display their creative endeavors and share them with UC and the community."
The college will host a reception for the artists on Friday at 1 p.m. in the Library Concourse, immediately followed by the exhibit opening at 2 p.m. in the library.
