Utica, NY (01/19/2011) - Film @ UC will present the first film of the spring semester, "Garbo the Spy," on Thursday, Jan. 20 at 7 p.m. in Macfarlane Auditorium, DePerno Hall, at Utica College. The film is a fascinating account of the life of Catalan Juan Pujol, an extraordinary Spanish double agent during World War II who, at the peak of his career in 1944, succeeded in diverting German defense forces to Calais while the Allied landings were taking place in Normandy, averting considerable bloodshed. He later retired by faking his own death.
The film screening is free and open to the public. Visit www.utica.edu/culture or call (315) 792-3047 for more information.
