Utica, NY (10/15/2010) - As part of its Cultural Events Series, Utica College presents “The Ladies Man” by Charles Morey. The play will be held Thursday, Oct. 21 through Saturday, Oct. 23 at 8 p.m. and on Sunday, Oct. 24 at 2 p.m. in Strebel Auditorium. General admission is $4 and tickets will be sold at the door.“This play is ludicrous, while still being sharp, witty and surprising,” said Marijean Levering, the play’s director and UC associate professor of theatre. “I love to laugh; the cast and crew love to laugh. This was the perfect play that allowed us to share the fun with the audience.”
“The show is hilarious,” said Jeff Percacciante, a UC junior who plays the role of Dr. Hercule Molineaux. “It’s funny almost every second. It has everything from double entendres and dirty jokes to mistaken identities and crazy plot twists. How could you not go see it?”
Set in Belle Epoque, Paris, one tiny, little, hardly noticeable lie leads to all sorts of trouble for Dr. Molineaux, including a suspicious wife, a gorgon of a mother-in-law, an outrageously aggressive female patient, her violently jealous Prussian husband, a well-intentioned friend with a serious lisp, a valet with an attitude, a maid with a secret and more slamming doors than realistic architecture should ever accommodate. Be ready to laugh while watching this hilariously zany and infectiously charming French farce.
The cast includes Percacciante (Hercule Molineaux), Shauna Dieffenbach (Yvonne Molineaux), Kelly Conklin (Suzanne Aubin), William Lanfear (Gustav Aubin), Kishon Grant (Etienne), Shanell Finney (Madame Aigreville), Miranda McKee (Marie), and Hashem Al-Hadid and Brenden Kovits (double cast as Bassinet).
