UC to Host Mohawk Valley Writing Project
Saturday Special "Ten Thirty Ten" Specialized Writing Workshops

Utica, NY (10/08/2010) -Utica College will host the Mohawk Valley Writing Project “Saturday Special Ten Thirty Ten” on Saturday, Oct. 30 in the auditorium of the Economic Crime and Justice Studies Building from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The writing project is a seven-hour workshop that will be presented by college professors, local high school teachers, facilitators and past participants and members of the Mohawk Valley Writing Project.
The “Saturday Special Ten Thirty Ten” consists of specialized training workshops that will discuss civility, Web 2.0 tools, the integration of reading and writing, memoir writing, methods used to represent inequalities, critical thinking, learning standards adopted by New York state, mathematical concepts, historical fiction, visual thinking strategies and gender and sexuality.
The project aims to improve writing and the teaching of writing, educate participants about research-based practice and establish the importance of digital technology in teaching.
Participants will receive a certificate for seven contact hours, continental breakfast, and boxed lunches.
The cost is $50 per participant and must be attached to registration forms and returned to Kristin Phelps in the School of Arts and Sciences at Utica College by Friday, Oct. 15.
