Utica, NY (07/13/2010) - A “marathon” usually brings running and sweating to mind.

But this marathon is for exercising your mind. The Mohawk Valley Writing Project will hold its annual "Writing Marathon" on Thursday, July 15 at Utica College. The Writing Marathon is open to anyone interested. It will begin at 9 a.m. in Room B1 of Hubbard Hall. From there, writers will split into groups and spend the morning at various sites in Utica including Forest Hill Cemetery, Union Station, Varick Street, Munson-Williams Proctor Arts Institute and the Utica Public Library.

Lunch will be served in the Frank E. Gannett Memorial Library Concourse at 12:30 p.m., and an open reading will follow where participants can share their day’s work. The marathon is expected to conclude at 2 p.m.; 4.5 contact hours can be earned. There is a $15 fee, which includes a light breakfast and lunch for those who attend.

Registration is open until the event, and walk-ins are welcome.
