Utica, NY (10/10/2009) - The enchanting vocals of Lauralyn and G. Roberts Kolb will be accompanied by the talented Sar-Shalomn Strong tickling the ivories; Utica College is excited to welcome this trio in its return to the Professor Harry F. and Mary Ruth Jackson Lunch Hour Series on Wednesday, Oct. 14 at 12:30 p.m. in the Library Concourse. The event is free and open to the public.Soprano Lauralyn Kolb has appeared throughout the country as a recitalist, oratorio, and opera singer with her music featured on WCNY Classic FM Public Radio and NPR’s Schickele Mix. She has given over 100 performances, worked with renowned artists such as Helen Boatwright, Tina Toglia, and Don McMahon, and has recorded three CDs. Her latest CD is included in the prestigious Recorded Anthology of American Music (New World Records). For more than 25 years, Kolb has taught voice at Hamilton College and served as the New York State Governor for the National Association of Teachers of Singing.
Tenor G. Roberts Kolb has been active in the music world since his graduation from Occidental College, then earning a doctorate in choral music from the University of Illinois. He has taught at Hamilton College since 1981. His recent onstage roles include Cervantes/Don Quixote (Man of La Mancha), Sweeney Todd (Sweeney Todd), The Cowardly Lion (The Wizard of Oz), and Captain Hook (Peter Pan).
Pianist Sar-Shalomn Strong has built an impressive reputation for his 25 years of experience in both solo and collaborative compositions. Strong earned a degree from Syracuse University and is a lecturer in piano and coordinator of staff pianists for Hamilton College. From 1998-2007, Strong served as the keyboardist for the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra.
