Curtis, Johnsen Appointed New Deans at Utica College

Utica, NY (08/25/2009) - Judith Kirkpatrick, vice president for academic affairs and dean of the faculty at Utica College, announced that George Curtis and John Johnsen have been named deans of the School of Business and Justice Studies and the School of Arts and Sciences, respectively. 

Johnsen, professor of anthropology and former dean of the School of Business and Justice Studies, will take on a new role in the School of Arts and Sciences. Johnsen earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in anthropology from Case Western Reserve University and also holds a doctoral degree in anthropology from SUNY Buffalo. He has been with UC for more than 30 years as both an administrator and professor. 

Curtis is the executive director of the Economic Crime Institute (ECI) of Utica College and is also a member of the advisory board of the Center for Identity Management and Information Protection (CIMIP) of Utica College. A professor of criminal justice studies at the college, he is a certified fraud specialist and a member of several economic crime and fraud organizations including the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences and the Upstate New York Electronic Crimes Task Force. Curtis holds a bachelor’s degree from Syracuse University and a juris doctorate from Brooklyn Law School.
