UC Kicks Off Film@UC
45th Year Open with "On The Waterfront"

The long-popular Film@UC series enters its 45th year

Utica, NY (08/25/2008) - Utica College celebrates 45 years of film with its popular campus film series, FILM@UC, this fall.The ten-film series begins Thursday, August 28 with a screening of the classic American film, On the Waterfront. The Elia Kazan-directed film won eight Oscars and is considered by some to be one of the greatest American movies ever produced. Filmed in 1954, it is the story of an ex-prizefighter struggling with his conscience amid corruption in the longshoremen’s union.
In successive weeks, UC will screen award-winning films from Japan, Canada, Scotland, France and the U.S.:
September 4 - The Book of the Dead
September 11 – Sigh! and Outsourced
September 18 – Nobody
September 25 – Heartbeat Detector
October 2 – The Listening Project
October 9 – Traces of the Trade
October 16 – Seachd
November 20 – The Cats of Mirikitani
