Utica, NY (08/25/2008) - Utica College celebrates 45 years of film with its popular campus film series, FILM@UC, this fall.

The ten-film series begins Thursday, August 28 with a screening of the classic American film, On the Waterfront. The Elia Kazan-directed film won eight Oscars and is considered by some to be one of the greatest American movies ever produced. Filmed in 1954, it is the story of an ex-prizefighter struggling with his conscience amid corruption in the longshoremen’s union.

In successive weeks, UC will screen award-winning films from Japan, Canada, Scotland, France and the U.S.:

September 4 - The Book of the Dead
September 11 – Sigh! and Outsourced
September 18 – Nobody
September 25 – Heartbeat Detector
October 2 – The Listening Project
October 9 – Traces of the Trade
October 16 – Seachd
November 20 – The Cats of Mirikitani

The films, free and open to the public, are screened in Macfarlane Auditorium in the Strebel Student Center on the UC campus. For more information about FILM@UC, visit the UC website at: http://www.utica.edu/film@uc
