UC Students Prepare for Job Interviews


Seminar Gives Tips on Transitioning from Student to Professional

Students get tips on preparing for the world of work

Utica, NY (02/25/2008) - On Wednesday (Feb. 27), the Utica College Office of Career Services will present “College to Career: Becoming a Professional” at 4 p.m. in the Boehlert Conference Center.

Nearly 100 students are expected to attend the event, which will be presented in three parts. “Dress to Impress” will feature representatives from Men’s Wearhouse and Ann Taylor Loft who will provide tips on interview and professional attire; “Surviving Your First Year on the Job” will include a panel of recent graduates who will discuss transitioning from student to professional; and “Serving up Success” will consist of an elegant five course fine dining experience facilitated by dining etiquette expert Robert Shutt.

The event is sponsored in part by Orkin, Verizon Wireless, UC’s B.O.N.D. (Brothers on a New Direction), and UC’s CSTEP (Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program).

A number of prizes will be given at the event, including a $250 gift certificate from Macy’s, a gift certificate from Hair Designs by Dominick at Cut and Curle in Whitesboro, and a basket of hair care products. In addition, all attendants will receive a professional swag bag.
