Utica, NY (02/20/2008) - New York City artist Martin Weinstein will exhibit his latest works at the Edith Langley Barrett Fine Art Gallery at Utica College March 3 through 29. He will also appear in person at the gallery March 4 from 4 to 6 p.m. as part of UC’s “Meet The Artist” series.Weinstein’s art is an interpretive form of realism fused with abstraction. The artist’s exhibit, “Teresa in the Landscape,” features paintings of his wife whereby the artist merges the figurative and landscape into translucent and ghosted depths of field. The works challenge nominal notions of passing time and sense of place, as the artist explores how people are moved to see and how this act of seeing shows them their inner world from the wider world.
Weinstein is a 1974 graduate of Tyler School of Art and has held exhibitions across the country. His works hang in galleries and museums in New York and Paris. In 1980, the artist and his wife founded Art in General, a leading alternative art space in lower Manhattan.
