V-Day Monologues Mark 10th Anniversary at UC
Performances Raise Awareness to End Violence Against Women

Utica, NY (02/20/2008) - Valentine’s Day has come and gone, but V-Day still fast approaches at Utica College.In celebration of V-Day’s tenth anniversary, UC students present A Memory, A Monologue, A Rant, and A Prayer: Writings To Stop Violence Against Women and Girls.
This special collection of monologues by world-renowned authors and playwrights features performances from both men and women in the college community. The performances will be held Saturday (Feb. 23) at 6 p.m. and Sunday (Feb. 24) at 3 p.m. in Strebel Auditorium. This event is open to the public; admission is $3 ($2 for UC students).
The celebration of the fight to raise awareness and end violence against women continues with the 10th anniversary performance of Eve Ensler's Obie-award winning Vagina Monologues on (Saturday) March 8 at 6 p.m. and (Sunday) March 9 at 3 p.m. in Strebel Auditorium. Both performances are open to the public and admission is $5 ($3 for UC students).
V-Day’s 2008 Spotlight Campaign focuses on the women of New Orleans as symbols for the universal plight of women in conflict zones.
The V-Day Committee of Utica College will sell V-Day merchandise at all productions; proceeds will benefit YWCA Hall House, a local residential shelter for women and children working through the problems caused by family violence.

About the Playwright - Ensler is a playwright, author, advocate and activist for women's rights throughout the world. She is the initiator of V-Day, a global movement to stop violence against women and girls. Her performance of "The Vagina Monologues" has been featured on HBO.
