Utica, NY (12/19/2007) - Utica College will partner with Utica City School District art educators and students to present the 12th annual art exhibit Jan. 27 through Feb. 23.

The exhibit will be hosted by the UC Edith Langley Barrett Fine Art Gallery, located in the college’s library concourse on the lower level of the Frank E. Gannett Memorial Library. The annual exhibit is an integral part of February’s National Art Education month. This year’s collection will consist of works of art produced by more than 250 Utica City School District students in grades K-12, and 21 art teachers from the district. Works will be in photography, oil painting, mixed media collage, ceramics, sculpture, watercolor, crayon drawing, finger paining, collage, pencil drawing, and design and computer graphics. Art educators will also present personal creative works with their students; all of the projects that will be displayed meet the New York Arts in Education standards.

The opening reception will be held Sunday, Jan. 27 from 1 to 4 p.m. in the art gallery. School district bands and orchestras will perform at the event, which is free and open to the public.

The exhibit will be open Monday through Friday, 1 to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. For more information, call (315) 792-5289.
