UC to Present Tax Update Seminar


IRS, NYS Tax Department to Participate

Utica, NY (11/16/2007) - Calling all accountants! Tax season is just around the corner and Utica College has the updated information. UC will partner with the Internal Revenue Service and the New York State Department of Taxation to present a special institute for tax practitioners on Tuesday, Dec. 4 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Radisson Hotel-Utica Centre.

The event will feature a number of speakers from the IRS and the New York State Department of Taxation who will address many topics including significant income tax law changes and also legislative changes for both personal and business income taxes in 2007. A stakeholder liaison will discuss several items of interest including Form 8300, campus compliance services, and EITC updates; NYS Taxation will also discuss the ongoing issues within the Collections and Civil Enforcement Division; the Pension Protection Act of 2006 (PPA), as well as bankruptcy, and the IRS Counsel will be addressed. In addition, money laundering prevention and identity theft tips will be provided.

The course is worth seven Continuing Professional Education Units (CPEs) for accountants. The “early bird” seminar fee for individuals registered through Nov. 28 is $135 per person. For registrations received after Nov. 28, the seminar fee is $150 per person. The seminar fee includes a continental breakfast, lunch, breaks, and all materials including the AES resource book.
