Utica, NY (09/26/2007) - Utica College will dedicate its new, state-of-the-art technology suite this Friday (Sept. 28) during Homecoming 2007. The event is part of “The New Era in Public Relations and Journalism,” a professional development conference day for journalists, public relations and communications professionals. The Professor Raymond Simon Convergence Media Center, named after the professor emeritus and founder of the public relations program at UC, is a 2,425-square foot wing that includes a classroom, areas for editing and audio, as well as the studio itself – featuring monitors, teleprompters, and a green screen. The $750,000 center, which opened its doors this fall, is a campus-wide resource, giving interested students real-world application and training on television production equipment.
All of the equipment in the center is high-definition, making it one of the first such educational facilities in the northeast. Located on the ground level of UC’s faculty center, the new suite houses classes related to broadcasting and television production.
The dedication ceremony will take place on Friday at 3:15 p.m. in the Professor Raymond Simon Convergence Media Center.
