UC Concert, Jazz Bands to Perform
Special Concert Will Honor Area's Veterans

The UC Concert and Jazz bands will perform special selections in honor of veterans on Monday, Nov. 6.

Utica, NY (10/31/2006) - On Monday evening, Nov. 6, the Utica College Concert Band and Jazz Band will present a concert, "To Honor Our Area's Veterans." The concert is free and open to the public.Starting at 7 p.m. in Strebel Student Center Auditorium, the Jazz Band will play selections featuring big band music from the World War II era, including songs made famous by the Glenn Miller Band and Benny Goodman. Following that set, the 56-member Concert Band will play a variety of John Philip Sousa marches, as well as other patriotic and concert selections.
All veterans in attendance will be brought to the stage and recognized by the audience and band members.
The bands are under the direction of Michael J. DiMeo, adjunct professor of music.
