UC Marks 60th Anniversary

Utica, NY (09/14/2006) - Utica College will mark its 60th anniversary at the site where it all began, on Oneida Square.President Todd S. Hutton will preside over a plaque dedication ceremony this Saturday (Sept. 16) at 11 a.m. in the basement of the Plymouth Bethesda United Church of Christ, 500 Plant Street, Utica.
The plaque will be permanently placed on the outside of the building where the first classes were held and the college’s first convocation ceremony took place in September of 1946.
Participating in the ceremony will be Utica Mayor Tim Julian and Rev. Thomas O’Donnell.
About Utica College – Founded in 1946, Utica College is a comprehensive private institution that grants the Syracuse University baccalaureate degree and the Utica College master’s and doctoral degrees. The College, located in central New York, approximately 90 miles west of Albany and 50 miles east of Syracuse, currently enrolls an approximated 2,300 undergraduate and 350 graduate students in 31 undergraduate majors, 24 minors, 13 master’s and two doctoral degree programs.
