Utica, NY (08/09/2006) - Capitol Records Nashville artist Dierks Bentley will headline Utica College’s 2006 homecoming celebration with a performance at the Utica Memorial Auditorium on Saturday, Sept. 16 at 7:30 p.m.
In his young career, “DB” (as his fans know him) has already produced three albums. In 2005, Bentley’s self-titled album was certified platinum, signifying sales of a million albums. In December, his latest album “Modern Day Drifter” went platinum as well, less than seven months after it debuted.
The sophomore album debuted at number one on the country music charts. The first single “Lot of Leavin’ Left To Do” peaked at number three on the charts, followed by “Come a Little Closer” and “Settle for a Slowdown,” both of which topped the country music charts for several weeks. In total, Bentley has had six top 20 hits, three of which were number one singles. His next album is scheduled to hit stores on Halloween.
Bentley’s performance at the Utica Memorial Auditorium will be sponsored by the Utica College Programming Board. Tickets are available to the public through Ticketmaster.
Utica College’s homecoming will take place Sept. 15 through 17. The weekend is packed with events ranging from the 6th Annual Pioneer Golf Tournament Friday afternoon to a fireworks display Saturday evening. Multiple graduating classes will be honored throughout the weekend, including the 50th reunion of the class of 1956.
