Promoting Student Motivation: Challenges and Strategies


ACSS Conversation Feb. 4

Discussion on student achievement to highlight ACSS converation

Utica, NY (01/28/2010) - Humans tend to behave in ways that bring them desirable consequences or enable them to avoid unpleasant ones. On Thursday, Feb. 4, Lois Fisch Ph.D., professor and director of education, will present an Adapting Curriculum for Student Success (ACSS) Conversation to explore and discuss the effects of reinforcement, emotional arousal, and teacher behaviors on student achievement and success. The lecture, “Promoting Student Motivation: Challenges and Strategies,” will take place at 3:30 p.m. with light refreshments immediately preceding in the Willard Conference Room, DePerno Hall. The event is free and open to the public.

The ACSS Conversations at UC provide the opportunity for faculty and other interested colleagues to share their experiences in teaching, advising, and working with students with disabilities. The presentations showcase innovative teaching practices, documented successes, and information on current issues that enable faculty and staff to improve the quality of higher education for students with disabilities.
