Chanatry Geotalk Lecture Rescheduled, Relocated


Professor Looks at Health Care in Sudan

The final Geotalk of the Fall Semester takes us to the poverty-stricken nation of Sudan

Utica, NY (11/01/2010) - The “Hope and Despair: One reporter’s multimedia look at health care in Southern Sudan” lecture to be presented by David M. Chanatry, associate professor of journalism, has been rescheduled for Friday, Nov. 19 and will now be held in the auditorium of the Economic Crime and Justice Studies building. It was originally scheduled for Nov. 5.

The lecture will discuss health care issues of the poverty-stricken country of Sudan, the maternal and child mortality rate and efforts to provide access to quality care. It will focus on two different medical clinics, one run by "Lost Boys” now living in Central New York, and another that is the life's work of an American doctor who has won a Genius grant for her pioneering work in difficult condition.

The lecture is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served at 2:15 p.m., with the lecture to follow at 2:30 p.m.
