UC Education Students to be Inducted into National Honor Society

Ceremony set for Saturday in Strebel Auditorium

Utica, NY (04/27/2011) - A new cohort of Utica College students will become members of Kappa Delta Pi, the international honor society in education, Saturday, April 30 at 11 a.m. in the college’s Strebel Auditorium.

This year’s group of 35 students was selected for induction into the prestigious society based on their outstanding academic performance by members of the education faculty at UC and Kappa Delta Pi.

Utica College, the 693rd installed chapter of Kappa Delta Pi, offers a comprehensive suite of programs that combines challenging course work with practical classroom experience for those wishing to become teachers. The purpose of UC’s Kappa Delta Pi Chapter is to promote excellence in and recognize outstanding contributions to education.

Kappa Delta Pi was founded in 1911 to recognize excellence in education. It invites membership to those who uphold the ideals of fidelity to humanity, science, service and toil. The organization encourages high personal standards, scholarship, distinction in achievement, and positive contributions to education. Today, there are more than 50,000 members in more than 500 university, college, public school, and alumni chapters. The society publishes three periodicals in education and sponsors conferences, workshops, and award programs each year, in addition to conducting a biennial convocation.
