Utica, NY (04/16/2011) - Utica College’s construction management program will host a conference Thursday, April 28 at the college from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Economic Crime, Justice Studies and Cybersecurity building.“The Blueprint for Success” is a one-day event that will offer construction professionals practical information on how to operate in a more efficient manner in this day and age of belt tightening. The keynote speaker will be FMI Principal Consultant Gregg Schoppman, who specializes in the areas of productivity and project management and will speak at both the morning and afternoon sessions.
The topic of the morning session, “Estimating for Advantage: It’s a Hard, Hard, Hard (Bid) World” will look at the evolving nuances of estimating and acquiring work. The afternoon session, “Turning Your Project Managers into Business Managers,” will focus on helping project managers understand the financial impact of their daily activities, and balance this understanding with maintaining positive client relationships to leverage future repeat business.
The Construction Management program at UC combines foundational study in management techniques with extensive real-world learning opportunities. It is designed to prepare students for careers in the growing field of the management of construction projects with a curriculum that includes a balanced focus on technical construction knowledge – like methods and materials, construction processes, and surveying – as well as the managerial, financial, and planning skills necessary for taking charge of construction activities.
