UC Presents List of Science Fair Winners
Regional Event Showcases Budding Scientists

Utica, NY (04/03/2012) - Utica College has announced the winners for its 34th annual regional science fair, held March 24 on the college’s campus. The fair featured an impressive display of ideas, research and talent from the area’s top budding young scientists.Taking home the top prize, senior level grand champion, is Mary Ann Bulawa, a 10th grade student at Rome Free Academy. For her project, “Optimizing Algae Growth,” Bulawa will receive a two-year half tuition scholarship to Utica College, in addition to an all-expense paid trip to the 2012 Intel International Science and Engineering Fair in Pittsburgh this May. Grace Atik, a 10th grade Clinton student is the senior level runner-up grand champion for “We Didn’t Start the Fire!”
Neila Rekic and Katelyn Zaleski, 8th grade students at JFK middle school are junior level grand champions for their project, “The Electrolyte Challenge.”
