Utica, NY (05/07/2012) - Utica College will host the Oneida County Law Enforcement Coalition's annual Law Enforcement Awards Program on Tuesday, May 8, at 9 a.m.

This awards program is held as part of National Law Enforcement Week in order to recognize area police officers that have been nominated based on their record of valor and professional service. Two awards will be presented: Trooper Shane D. Treen, N.Y. State Police, and Deputy Kurt B. Wyman (posthumously), Oneida County Sheriff's Office.

The Oneida County Law Enforcement Coalition comprises more than 30 area agencies that meet monthly to address operational policy issues and new information on major crime trends.

The program will take place in the Carbone Family Auditorium of UC's state-of-the-art Economic Crime and Justice Studies building, home to the college's suite of economic crime programs, as well as the Center for Identity Management and Information Protection (CIMIP) and the Economic Crime Institute (ECI) of Utica College.

Raymond Philo, research director of economic crime and justice studies at the college and former chief of the New Hartford Police Department, will speak at the ceremony, following welcoming remarks from the dean of the school of business and justice studies at the college, Patricia Swann.
