Utica, NY (03/25/2013) - Christina Brown, adjunct lecturer of physical therapy at Utica College, and Nicholas Testa, UC physical therapy student, authored the chapter “Case 7 Lumbar Spinal Fusion” in the book “Physical Therapy Case Files: Acute Care.”

Testa, who will graduate in May with a doctorate in Physical Therapy, described the work as a literature review that “gives other therapists a good idea of how to treat someone recovering from a lumbar spinal fusion in the acute care setting.” According to Brown, she and Testa followed patients who had undergone a lumbar spinal fusion throughout the patient client management process during the acute care stay. Their study looks at the pathology of the spine as well as the history of lumbar spinal fusions.

Brown and Testa worked with Erin Jobst, who was in charge of the process, to complete this case study.
