Susan Draves has 25 years of experience teaching Spanish . She has taught at UC for more than a decade. She was department chairperson at Rome Catholic High School and throughout her foreign language career has developed curriculum, taken students on numerous field trips and assisted many students with learning disabilities. She participated in an exchange program in Quito, Ecuador and spent her junior year abroad in Madrid ,Spain as well as further travel to Puerto Rico, Mexico and a return trip to Spain. She has also studied in French speaking countries and taught French as well. She is currently the treasurer of LECNY, Language Educators of Central New York and has participated in many workshops sponsored by this organization and NYSAFLT, New York State Foreign Language Teachers Association. Having a son with special needs , she has attended numerous workshops and trainings in this area and was the parent representative for several years for the Madison-Oneida BOCES special programs E&AP,( Excellence &Accountability Program) committee as well as working in special needs and alternative education classrooms as a substitute teacher. ...More About Susan A. Román Santos, a native of Southern California, was born and raised in a bilingual household. His parents are from Mexico and he spoke Spanish exclusively at home. He has traveled in Mexico extensively and lived in Buenos Aires for two years. He received a BA in History from Brigham Young University, an MA in Spanish Linguistics from San Diego State University, and an MAEd in Secondary Education from The University of Phoenix. He has taught Spanish at the High School level for several years. He teaches Full-time at MVCC.

Mr. Alfred (Fred) J. Valentini

Alfred J. Valentini has been teaching for 40 years. His career includes the instruction of children from grade 7 to adults in college. He retired from Thomas R. Proctor High School in Utica, NY as Department Chair of Languages Other than English (June 2007)and continues as an adjunct professor of Italian at Utica College. He is also the Director of Instruction of the IACE Summer Program in Italy. He received his BA (’72 cum laude) and MA(’73) at the University at Albany , studied at l’Università per Stranieri of Perugia, l’Università Pro Deo of Rome, La Scuola per Stranieri of Siena, Nazareth College, Long Island University and SUNY Cortland (CAS in School Administration and Supervision, ‘94). ...More About Alfred J.
