Chris Melenovsky received his PhD from the University of Pennsylvania and recently taught at the University of North Carolina. He works in moral, political, and legal philosophy with his primary research on the role of social practices in shaping moral and ethical life. He has an interdisciplinary background and tries to link philosophy with economics, sociology, and political science.

His recent publications are focused on the justification of institutional rights and obligations, including property rights, legal obligation, professional responsibilities, promising, and the duty to vote. Beyond these issues, Chris is also interested in the history of value theory (particularly Rousseau, Kant, Hegel and Rawls) and the philosophy of social science.
