Poughkeepsie, NY (March 7, 2009) – The Utica College women’s water polo team lost three games at the Marist Invitational Saturday. Senior Erin Schinasi led the way for the Pioneers with three goals and one assists over the course of three losses.

The Pioneers are now 0-3 overall on the year after dropping contests to Siena, Iona and St. Francis. UC’s last victory came in the Snowy Seven Classic hosted by Utica College, when the Pioneers defeated Queens College 6-5 on March 16, 2008.

UC dropped its season opener to Iona Saturday, 14-2. Schinasi netted one goal for UC while freshman Lisa Torii added her first collegiate goal. Junior Amanda Sulicz tallied one assist and four steals while Arielle Feinstein and Kera Langdon split time in net and totaled four saves apiece.

In its second contest of the day Utica lost to Sienna College 16-3. Schinasi posted a season-high two goals and added one assist while Torri added her second goal of the season. Langdon stopped four shots between the pipes for UC.

The Pioneers wrapped up their trip to Poughkeepsie, NY with a 16-1 loss to St. Francis. Sulicz added her first goal of the year on an assist from Mary Anne Tomko to round out the Pioneer scoring. Langdon posted a career-high five saves in the loss.

The Pioneers return to action Friday when they host Colorado College at 8 p.m. in the third annual Utica College water polo tournament at the Utica Pool of Champions.
