FIVE PIONEERS NAMED TO ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM

Five student-athletes from the Utica College women’s water polo team were named to the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) 2009 Women’s All Academic Team Wednesday. Mary Anne Tomko earned the highest possible honor by being categorized as “Outstanding” for accumulating a grade point average of 3.71 or higher. Only 19 student-athletes in Division III earned the “Outstanding” distinction.

PIONEERS CLOSE OUT 2009 CAMPAIGN WITH FOUR LOSSES AT NORTHERN DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Utica College women’s water polo team closed out its 2009 campaign with four losses at the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Northern Division Championships Saturday and Sunday at Connecticut College. With the losses the Pioneers dropped to 2-16 overall this season, but they doubled their win total compared to last season’s 1-23 overall record.

UC LOSES FOUR GAMES OVER THE WEEKEND

The Utica College women’s water polo team lost four games on the road this past Friday and Saturday. Junior Amanda Sulicz led the way for the Pioneers with six goals over the course of the four contests.
