2008 Kiwanis Student-Athlete Awards
KIWANIS PRESENTS LOCAL COLLEGE ATHLETES WITH ANNUAL AWARDS
The Kiwanis Club of Utica presented students-athletes from Mohawk Valley Community College (MVCC), Herkimer County Community College (HCCC), Hamilton College, SUNYIT and Utica College with the 20th annual Kiwanis Student-Athlete Awards Wednesday at the Radisson Hotel in downtown Utica.

#4 UC PUMMELS #5 MEDAILLE IN ECAC UPSTATE PLAY-IN GAME
The Utica College women's lacrosse team dominated No. 5 seeded Medaille College, 22-4, in the ECAC Upstate Play-In game on the turf at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium Wednesday. Freshman Lily Fleskes scored a career-high six goals to pace the Pioneers.

SOFTBALL PLACES TWO ON EMPIRE 8 ALL-CONFERENCE TEAMS
The Utica College softball team placed two student-athletes on Empire 8 All-Conference teams released Tuesday. Freshman outfielder Kim Martin was named to the first-team; while junior outfielder Abby Drew earned honorable mention.

UC WOMEN'S LACROSSE EARNS #4 SEED IN ECAC CHAMPIONSHIPS
The Utica College women’s lacrosse team has been selected as the No. 4 seed in the ECAC Upstate Championships. The Pioneers will host No. 5 seeded Medaille College Wednesday in a play-in game at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium. The match-up is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.

STEVENS TAKES TWO FROM UTICA IN EMPIRE 8 BASEBALL ACTION
The Utica College baseball team lost both ends of a double header to Empire 8 Conference foe Stevens Institue of Technology Saturday afternoon at the UC baseball field. The Pioneers dropped game one 8-4, before falling 4-1 in the night cap.

UC FOOTBALL PROGRAM SET TO HOST "SPRING FOOTBALL FEVER"
The Utica College football program will host its first annual "Spring Football Fever" at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium on Saturday May 3, 2008. The festivities begin at 10:30 a.m. The Chicken Bar-B-Q has been moved due to weather and will now be held upstairs in the Stebel Student Center at 11:00 a.m. The Bar-B-Q is $10 for non Utica College students.

UC SOFTBALL SPLITS SEASON FINALE DOUBLE HEADER AGAINST RPI
The Utica College softball team wrapped up its 2008 campaign splitting two games on the road against RPI Wednesday afternoon, losing the first 5-1 and winning the second 4-1.

FIELD HOCKEY PROGRAM SET TO HOST CUMMER CAMP
The Utica College field hockey program will host a summer camp July 7 - July 10, 2008. The camp is for field hockey players in grades 7-12 and campers will work on fundamental skills, goalkeeping, special situations and much more.

UC BASEBALL SNAPS LOSING STREAK WITH TWO WINS OVER CAZ
The Utica College baseball team earned its first sweep of the season Wednesday afternoon with two wins over visiting Cazenovia College. Headed into the double header UC had lost 18 straight games, while the Wildcats had won 18 of their last 20 contests.

BULGER NAMED TO EMPIRE 8 MEN’S LACROSSE ALL-CONFERENCE TEAM
Sophomore attack Michael Bulger of the Utica College men’s lacrosse team was named to the 2008 Empire 8 All-Conference Honorable Mention team released Tuesday. UC senior captain Chris Tarkowski was UC’s representative on the Sportsman of the Year team.
