UC LOSES FINAL GAME TO ST. JOHN FISHER

The Utica College men’s tennis team lost 8-1 in an Empire 8 conference battle against St. John Fisher to close out the 2009 campaign. In singles competition, senior Tom Armitage picked up the only win for the Pioneers, while Fisher was able to take all three matches in doubles competition.

UC MEN'S TENNIS FALLS TO 1-6 WITH LOSS AT HARTWICK

The Utica College men's tennis team won second and third doubles, but dropped all six singles matches, in a 7-2 loss to host Hartwick College Wednesday in Empire 8 Conference play. Thien Doan and Shaun Kaleta teamed up for a thrilling 9-8 (7-2) victory in second doubles over Matt Whitty and Peter Dumas, while UC's Gonzalo Salama and Gonzalo Carrascal won third doubles over Sean Barr and Michael del Rosario, 8-3. With the loss the Pioneers are now 1-6 overall and 1-5 in conference play.

MEN'S TENNIS FALLS AGAINST STEVENS 9-0

The Utica College men's tennis team lost to Empire 8 Conference foe Stevens Institute of Technology 9-0 Sunday at the UC tennis courts. Shaun Kaleta lost in second singles to Jason Ringstad (6-2,0-6,7-6), while Thien Doan lost in fourth singles against Jay Lee (6-2,6-1). With the loss the Pioneers overall record drops to 1-5 this season, while the Ducks improved to 13-4.
