PARNELL CLOSES OUT FIRST SEASON AS ASSISTANT COACH FOR CHICAGO MACHINE
Utica College men’s lacrosse coach Mike Parnell wrapped up his first season as an assistant coach for the Chicago Machine of the MLL (Major League Lacrosse) on Saturday. Parnell, who is entering his fifth season as head coach at Utica, spent nearly every weekend this summer traveling around the country coaching some of the top lacrosse players in the United States.

BULGER, O'CONNELL NAMED EMPIRE 8 ALL-CONFERENCE
Junior Michael Bulger and sophomore David O’Connell of the Utica College men’s lacrosse team were named to the 2009 Empire 8 All-Conference Team released Tuesday by the conference office. Bulger earned second team status, marking his second straight appearance on an all-conference team, while O’Connell earned a spot on the honorable mention list for the first time in his career.

EIGHT WINS TIES SCHOOL-RECORD AS PIONEERS WRAP UP 2009 CAMPAIGN
The Utica College men's lacrosse team (8-7, 3-5 E8) closed out its 2009 season with a 12-7 loss to visiting St. John Fisher College (14-2, 6-2 E8) in Empire 8 Conference play Saturday. After falling behind 5-0 in the first 15 minutes of play, UC outscored Fisher 3-1 in the second quarter, and entered the half down by three goals, 6-3. The Pioneers remained within striking distance the entire contest, but the Cardinals held UC to four second half goals, and scored six of their own, en route to their second straight win over the Pioneers in as many seasons. UC closed out its 2009 campaign with an 8-7 overall record and tied the school-record for most wins in a single season.
