KUTAS SCORES FOUR IN PIONEERS VICTORY

UTICA, N.Y. – The Utica College women’s field hockey team defeated visiting Nazareth College 5-1 in Empire 8 Conference action at Charles A. Gaetano stadium Sunday.

Katie Kutas (New York Mills/New York Mills) guided the Pioneers to a 4-0 lead when she knocked home her fourth consecutive goal just four minutes into the second half. Kutas tallied a team-high seven shots on goal for the Pioneers, who are now 1-1 in Empire 8 Conference play. Kutas has 10 goals and three assists on the year.

Carla Behe (Little Falls/Little Falls) closed out the scoring for the Pioneers as she found the back of the net late in the second half. Maggie Wright (Missisquoi Valley/ Franklin, VT) recorded the victory in goal for the Pioneers tallying one save in 51:33 minutes of work.
Utica (5-3) will return to action at 4 p.m. Wednesday against host Oswego..
