PIONEERS SEASON COMES TO A CLOSE AT #11 SKIDMORE
The Utica College field hockey team (8-9) lost to nationally-ranked No. 11 Skidmore College (14-3) Saturday, 5-1, at Thoroughbred Field. With the loss the Pioneers close out their 2009 campaign with a record of 8-9 overall and 3-3 in Empire 8 Conference play.

SIMMONS' HAT-TRICK LEADS PIONEERS PAST ONEONTA
The Utica College field hockey team (8-8) snapped a five game slide on Wednesday night after a convincing 4-1 victory over visiting Oneonta State (8-9) on the turf at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium. Freshman forward Samantha Simmons netted a career-high three goals in the contest to pace the Pioneers. Simmons became just the sixth player in school history to score three or more goals in a single contest.

UC FIELD HOCKEY FALLS AT HARTWICK
The Utica College field hockey team (7-8, 3-3 E8) lost its third straight Empire 8 Conference game against host Hartwick College (10-5, 4-1 E8), 1-0, in Oneonta, NY Saturday afternoon. Senior Shannon Moats made two defensive saves for UC. The Pioneers now need Elmira to beat Ithaca next Saturday to earn a spot in the Empire 8 Conference Tournament.
