Kristen Vasta will assume duties on the sidelines this season after spending the past two years as a member of the women’s basketball and soccer teams at UC.  Last season she helped guide Utica to its first Empire 8 Conference Championship and the program’s third NCAA Tournament appearance, its first since 1985.  In two seasons on the hard wood she played in 46 career games, posting 88 points, while compiling a 35-20 overall record.  She was also a member of the women’s soccer program at UC, playing in 33 career games, while posting 15 points on four goals and seven assists. 

Vasta came to UC in 2006 after spending two years at Eastern Nazarene College in Quincy, MA.  On the soccer field at Eastern Nazarene she was named Commonwealth Coast Conference Rookie of the Year, and on the basketball court she ranked in the top 25 in the nation in assists per game at the point guard position.  She was a 2003 graduate of Lennox Memorial High School in Lenox, MA. Born in Posan, South Korea, Vasta currently resides in Utica.
