Phi Sigma Sigma
Phi Sigma Sigma
“Lifelong Learning, Inclusiveness,
Leadership Through Service”
Phi Sigma Sigma is an international sorority founded on November 26, 1913 at Hunter College by ten women. These ten woman wanted to start a sorority that would promote open membership to all women of character regardless of background. Phi Sigma Sigma was the first nonsectarian sorority, which means it was the only sorority open diverse membership from it's inception, and the only one with a ritual not based in scripture. The powerful and beautiful women of Phi Sigma Sigma live by two twin ideals, the brotherhood of man and the alleviation of the world's pain. We also have out three core values; these include lifelong learning, inclusiveness, and leadership through service. We strive to live by what was set forth for us as we continue to expand and grow.
Mission
To inspire the personal development of each sister and perpetuate the advancement of womanhood.
Vision
Phi Sigma Sigma is a dynamic sisterhood of powerful women fostering uncompromising principles, igniting positive change, and embracing individuality.

We’re All about Learning
The women of Phi Sigma Sigma share a commitment to lifelong learning. We teach each other and learn from each other. We make academic achievement a priority, fostering an environment that encourages our membership to reach their highest potential.
We’re All About Serving
Phi Sigma Sigmas value making a difference in the lives of others. Hence, they become leaders in their communities, their professions, and their sisterhood. Leadership through service comes naturally to our women as we cultivate personal growth by seeking opportunities to serve.
