Chi Upsilon Sigma is not just a Sorority; it is a movement. We are a coalition of Strong and Independent Women mobilized for Social Change. Chi Upsilon Sigma was founded on the New Brunswick Campus of Rutgers University on Tuesday April 29th, 1980 making us one of the oldest and largest Latina Sororities in the nation. We were founded as an education and service based cultural sorority, and we strives to promote a positive image of the community of color, particularly Latinos. Chi Upsilon Sigma is the 1st Independent Latin Sorority and the 1st Latin Sorority to continue the art of both Step and Stroll. We recognize and celebrate the art form and are proud to continue it.
