Lent

I have noticed one thing while attending UC. I have noticed that there are many Catholics that either work here or go to school here. I was walking around the other day and saw some ashes on many people’s foreheads. It took me back to my Catholic high school. I remembered that Lent was around and it was Ash Wednesday.

Lent started last Wednesday. For those who do not know, Lent is a season in the Christian and Catholic calendar where they focus even more on God. It is forty days before Easter. Usually for Lent, people fast and also give things up for Lent. An example is giving up playing games, smoking, drinking, or partying. Your suppose to give up something that will make you a better person for forty days.

Lent consists of
Ash Wednesday – which is the first day of Lent.

Palm Sunday – This is the day when Jesus first came into Jerusalem.

Holy Thursday – This is the day Jesus had the Last Supper with his Apostles.

Good Friday – This is the day Jesus was crucified.

Easter Sunday – This day celebrates the Resurrection of Jesus.

All this information is according to the Catholic and Christian religion. I do not intend to offend anyone. But my question for my Catholic and Christian friends is “What did you give up for Lent?”
