About Me!

Mar 4, 2014 | Author: Allison Acquaviva

Hey everyone!

I thought as my first post, I would introduce myself and talk about my experience at Utica College so far.

I was born and raised in Utica, NY, so when it came time to choose a college, the choice was pretty simple.  I knew I didn’t want to go away just yet, so when I went to visit Utica College, I fell in love with the campus.  I knew immediately that this was where I belonged.  I loved the small class sizes and the one on one interaction between the professors and students. I loved how friendly and welcoming all of the students were, and of course, I loved the various activities that I could still be involved in as a commuter!

My journey into the PR field was definitely different.  I started out as a psychology major during my freshman year, and quickly found out that was definitely not for me.  So, like most students, I changed my major to Cyber Security.  After finding out the Cyber Security was not for me, I tried to explore my talents and passions.  After talking with a few people who were in PR, I found it quite interesting and…the rest is history.

Though I have only been in the PR field for one semester, I knew I picked the right curriculum.  The professors are so helpful and I’m thoroughly enjoying going to my classes every day! This is definitely something I can see myself doing for the rest of my life!

*Side note: For anyone entering college, or even in their 3rd year….know that it is totally OK to change your major.  In fact, It IS normal. Let’s face it: rarely do 17 or 18 year old people know exactly what they want to do forever…especially fresh out of the high school scene.  So, my advice? Explore all options, do what makes you happy, don’t worry about the graduation date, that’ll take care of itself.

So….I’m definitely looking forward to continuing this experience! :) Any questions or comments? Follow me on Twitter :)
