UC Bio Professor to Have Exhibit at Stanley Theatre
Opening Reception This Friday

"Our own" Thomas McCarthy, associate professor of biology, mixes work with pleasure when he gets behind the camera
Utica, NY (02/18/2013)- Tom McCarthy is a man of many talents.
In addition to his “day job” as an associate professor of biology at Utica College, he is an avid photographer – so accomplished, in fact, that he’ll be showing off his photography skills with a photo exhibit at the Stanley Theatre in Utica.
When he’s not teaching or grading papers, McCarthy picks up the camera and captures images of what he finds interesting. Consequently, his photos often intermingle with biology, as can be seen in several of the exhibit’s photos with nature and insects as the subjects.
This is not McCarthy’s first exhibit; he had a solo exhibit at the Rome Art and Community center last year, and he did a variety of group shows with the Utica Camera Club since joining in 2008. McCarthy’s work was also in the N.Y. State Fair, the Sidewalk Art Show at Munson Williams Proctor Art Institute, and at the Stanley.
The opening reception for McCarthy’s exhibit will be held this Friday, Feb. 22 at 5 p.m. in the Upper South Wing Tolles Gallery at the Stanley Theatre, Utica. Daniele’s Banquet Specialists will provide refreshments. It is free and open to the public.
McCarthy’s exhibit will remain on display through April 1; it can be viewed Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
For more information on the exhibit, call
the Stanley at (315) 724-4000.
