Graduation Deadlines for Graduate Students
These revised deadlines went into effect starting Summer 2012.

Clarification: Graduation versus Commencement
Utica College confers degrees three times a year with graduation dates in August, December, and May. Graduation means you’ve completed your degree requirements and can receive your diploma. There are three components to completing graduate degree requirements at Utica College: (1) successfully completing the required courses, (2) having a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater, and (3) successfully completing a Culminating Academic Experience (e.g., thesis, capstone project, comprehensive exam, portfolio/dossier).
Everyone MUST Apply for Degree by the deadline in order to graduate and receive a diploma. When you Apply for Degree, you should select your graduation date based on the semester in which you anticipate completing ALL of your degree requirements. You only need to Apply for Degree once, but if your anticipated graduation date changes, you will need to Apply for Degree again for the new graduation date (you will not be charged the graduation fee again).
Commencement is a ceremony celebrating our graduates, which happens once a year in May, and participation is optional. Applying for Degree does not obligate you to participate in Commencement. Alternatively, attending Commencement does not guarantee you will receive your diploma. August graduates have the option of choosing which Commencement Ceremony in which they would like to participate – the May before or the May after graduating. Spring 2013 Semester - for May Graduation
Students must be enrolled in the semester in which they plan to graduate.
Completed Phase III: Graduate Thesis/Capstone Project Final Approval Form and copies to the Office of Graduate Studies (OGS) where registration for 998 Student Enrollment in this semester is required for May graduation date ($0 fee for 998; only OGS can authorize placement in 998). NOTE: The 998 course is intended for students who anticipated graduating in the previous semester but missed the deadline for submitting their Thesis/Capstone Project or missed the deadline to Apply for Degree in the previous semester.
