- The office of career services at Utica College will host a volunteer fair Wednesday, Sept. 5 from 2:30 to 4 p.m. in the Library Concourse.Representatives from more than 30 agencies in the greater Utica area will be present to meet with faculty, staff, students and the public. Volunteer opportunities in human and health services, management, public relations, computer technology and much more will be available.
Halina A. Lotyczewski, assistant director of career services, said that the career fair serves the Utica College community and the public. She said, “The volunteer fair is beneficial for all who participate, on many levels.”
Judy Reilly of Compeer Program of the Mohawk Valley has had several students participate while in an internship position, or while completing their fieldwork. Some students work on site while many volunteer in their Bully Busters program in the surrounding schools.
“Volunteer students often find their time with the program beneficial and rewarding,” Reilly said.
Debbie George of Junior Junction Daycare has hired many people who volunteer for the organization.
“We often hire students who are currently attending Utica College, but also have many students who return to us every summer once they finish their school year,” George said.
